Meet The Owner
Michelle Watson is a retired Emmy Award winning filmmaker who loves working with children. She currently teaches kids commercial, film and television acting thru her company The Watson Academy while also running other youth programs. Originally from New York City, Michelle currently resides in Smyrna, Ga. with her husband and their 3 children.
Michelle C. Watson, 34 got her start in the industry as a member of the professional television training program at DCTV (Downtown Community Television) in New York City. Throughout the program, Michelle demonstrated exceptional talent, diligence and creativity. Founded in 1972, DCTV is dedicated to the belief that expanding public access to the media invigorates our democracy.
Michelle was selected for DCTV’S highly competitive flagship media program, which trains participants in professional video production and commissions them to develop documentary film projects. Through this program Michelle has produced documentaries that have been screened in over 20 national film festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival. Her work has also been featured on various public television broadcasts and national satellite channels.
After completing the video production program at DCTV, Michelle Watson later became a Success Coach for the Middle School department of a non-profit for youth organization in New York City. During that time, she taught students how to produce documentaries while creating a campaign for students to use film as an outlet to express the oppression they experience in their daily lives.
Michelle was recently commissioned to Atlanta where she has worked as a Video Producer and TriCaster operator for Atlanta’s Hip- Hop radio station V-103. In addition to working as a Video Producer, Michelle is the founder of several successful businesses including her namesake, The Watson Academy. Thru the academy, Michelle teaches kids on Atlanta and New York City film making and acting techniques for commercial/television acting roles.
